Marc S. Saffren, CFRE, is the Managing Director of m3 Development, specializing in fund development, executive search, private, corporate, family foundation oversight and management, board governance and strategic planning. m3 Development is an emerging company serving the nonprofit and corporate sectors, with headquarters on Long Island and has offices in New Jersey. The company offers tailored fundraising and philanthropy solutions that combine innovation with sound fundamentals. m3 Development is currently involved in raising over $20,000,000 in philanthropic funds and facilitating private foundation support of over $2,000,000 in gifts annually to charities on Long Island and beyond.

Prior to founding m3, Marc was the Vice President for Development at the Jewish Fund for Justice. While there, Marc was successful in creating a development strategy that resulted in over $750,000 in new philanthropic support. Prior to joining JFJ, Marc served as a Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving at American Cancer Society’s Eastern Division. During his tenure he closed over $6,000,000 in outright and deferred gifts. Before joining ACS, Marc held senior level positions with Family Counseling Service and Touro Law School. He began his professional career in the political and legislative arenas. He holds the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation, the only internationally recognized baseline professional credential for philanthropic fundraising executives. This is a personal and professional achievement that sets standards in philanthropy and attests to his dedication and commitment to the profession.

Marc completed three terms as a member of the Board of Directors of The Association of Fundraising Professionals – Long Island Chapter. He is also a member of the Planned Giving Groups of New York and Long Island and serves on the Alumni Council at Suffolk County Community College and the Foundation Board of Directors of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Hofstra University in the Non Profit Management Program and lectures at Columbia University.

Michael J. Baker, CFRE, is a Founder & Partner with m3 Development. He has worked with the American Cancer Society most recently helping the National organization launch its Major Gift & Campaign Fundraising Program resulting in over $85,000,000 in 2 years. He was formerly the Senior Director for Major Gifts for the ACS’s Eastern Division where he was responsible for leading & overseeing the Major Gift, Foundation Relations, Capital Campaign & Prospect Research Departments. During his 4 year tenure in the Eastern Division, Michael has closed, worked in partnership with and supervised staff resulting in over $25,000,000 for the American Cancer Society. He has over 15 years experience, previously working for the National Hemophilia Foundation & Boy Scouts of America in executive level development & management positions.

Michael has spoken, conducted training’s, and written about topics ranging from major gifts, campaigns, planned giving, development audits, fund development planning, strategic planning, capacity assessments, management consulting, staff recruitment & board development. He has consulted with non-profits conducting campaigns, feasibility studies, development audits, fund development planning, strategic planning, major gift planning, capacity assessments, management consulting, moves management, planned giving program development & board development. In addition, he serves as a philanthropic advisor to m3 Development clients.

Michael has been published in “The Major Gifts Report”, “AFP – Greater New York Chapter Fundraising News”, “Courting the Wealthy: 101 Ways to Cultivate Major Gifts” & has served as a guest lecturer at Columbia University. He has produced 11 training video’s of a variety of fundraising topics. He serves as a Board of Director for the Marlboro Education Foundation, Board of Director & Officer for the Association of Fundraising Professionals – New Jersey Chapter & has served on the Editorial Board of Triumph Magazine. He is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement & National Committee on Planned Giving. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York-Albany, achieved the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation & is an Eagle Scout.
